JOB TITLE Senior SEND Officer 

Day rate £350 (inside IR35)

Full time 37 hours per week

3 months


  •  To contribute to the management of processes governing the statutory Education, Health and Care needs assessment, review, placement and monitoring of pupils and students with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
  •   To support the Team Manager in providing supervision and support to the SEND Officers.
  •  To promote the efficient education and inclusion of pupils with special educational needs in accordance with the Slough Borough Council values and its statutory responsibilities.
  •  To lead and support within the SEND team on management & performance data and reporting, to ensure the Local Authority meets all SEN related legal requirements on data returns

  •   Previous significant experience of working within the education sector, either in a local authority or other educational setting.
  •    At least two years’ experience of managing a Special Educational Needs caseload
  •  Experience of managing staff to ensure quality and timeliness of work
  •  Detailed and expert knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and of the statutory assessment process for pupils with special educational needs.
  •  Extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, including Part 3 of the Children & Families Act 2014 and Every Child Matters and current issues in education and children’s services
  •  Knowledge and understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Opportunities
  • Knowledge of up to date case law relating to Special Educational Needs
  •  Proven track record of leading or supporting projects that meet or exceed set targets, ensuring timescales are met
